So that’s me "between jobs" then. I’m starting my new job on Monday 28 March.
It was supposed to be 4 April, but MTM (Ming the Merciless; my line manager) decided I was no longer needed. Which is fair enough I suppose since I was sitting in my pod doing nothing directly opposite him watching him swear profusely and attend numerous meetings regarding our ailing flagship C# project, and laughing, under my breath of course.
Anyway it’s thanks to Gary that I was able to leave. From all of the mutterings and discontent I’ve heard since I said I was going, I will be eternally grateful I was given this opportunity; and we will be working together again at my new employers.
The work is slightly different, in that I used to be a Web Developer (and I suppose that is where my heart will always lie) and that is what we used to create – web applications which connected to databases either locally or remotely. From what I can gather from my interview, brief observations when I was being shown round the office and my interview/introduction with the MD, this job will be mostly desktop development work which will use the internet to communicate with remote server software.
Should be interesting.
