April 20th, 2005 I stupidly opened a file wich I downloaded from a dodgy site yesterday and it was a virus. I was surprised though, since my scanner didn’t pick it up.
I currently run my eMule and Azureus off the same server as I’m serving these pages. I have plans to move the P2P stuff onto another box, but $$$.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I had to reinstall Windows.
Unfortunately, my MySQL store directory was on the Windows partition, and I’ve lost all posts and comments since about 2 April 2005. As was my PHP directory, so I had to reinstall that too.
And reconfigure IIS for all of my sites. And reinstall and reconfigure all of my applications.
Pissed off is an understatement.
I have now moved the store directory to another partition and do nightly backups of the database.
