April 24th, 2005 Today the evil that infected my server got a name: W32/Nopir-B.
The description states that it’s primary purpose is to run through your machine and delete any .mp3 (whether illegally obtained or legally downloaded) and .com files, including your ntdetect.com so your windows installation will be gubbed. It also disables access to the control panel, task manager and any debuggers that it finds so you can’t stop it once it’s started.
So there you go. I love being on the cutting edge of nouvo-virus discovery. :¬(
