When we moved in to our new house, the previous owner had attempted to distribute their television signal via a standard RF signal booster and splitter located in the attic. While this was fine for analogue signals, the fact that they’re going to get turned off in the next few years means that this sort of system will be obsolete. I think the only saving grace for distributed analogue is that Sky (I don’t know about other digital companies and technologies) still use RF to distribute out the back of their Sky boxes, although I’m not sure how much longer this will last. Downscaling and converting a HD signal to transmit it through an analogue system would defeat the whole purpose of having HD.
So I started investigating possible solutions to this problem and came up with the Bluestone system from Milestone, via SatCure; an excellent enthusiasts site for satellite systems et al. It’s basically a digital SCART distribution system utilising CAT5 cable.
SCART quaility signals thoughout the house, and a magic eye so you can control the box from any location? Nice.
