I live in Arbroath. I work in Dundee. Therefore I have to travel along the A92 everyday to get to work.
Now the A92 was upgraded a couple of years ago to be a dual carriageway, possibly in time for and because of The Open in Carnoustie, I’m not sure.
Don’t get me wrong; I was expecting there to be some disruption when the Open was on this week, but so far I’ve seen nothing to warrant the ridiculous traffic calming measures the authorities have deemed it necessary to put in place.
The road from the outskirts of Dundee to the last exit to Carnoustie is now 40mph. For quite a long way before and after each exit to Carnoustie, it is 30mph. Each exit is now divided into two separate lanes marked by cones, so if you’re in the left lane, you have to turn off.
They have marked all of this as “road works”. They’re not road works, and if there are road works, surely that’s a rubbish bit of scheduling, isn’t it?
Come on, let’s be sensible, and stop treating us like children.
Keep the signs that mark the exits, by all means, but don’t force us down to ridiculous speeds and single lanes.
We know how to use a dual carriageway. We know how slip roads work. Even if the road is busy!
Or don’t have a dual carriageway then. One or the other.
Just my $0.02.
