Software Defection

Date April 2nd, 2009 Comment No Comments

I changed some of my “default” software (the applications I install on my vanilla Windows) recently, based on the previous post. TextPad out; NotePad++ in. TextPad is proprietary, NotePad++ is freeware (this seems to be a theme), and TextPad doesn’t seem to be updated very frequently Paint Shop Pro out; GIMP in. When PSP was [...]

Portable Apps

Date April 2nd, 2009 Comment 1 Comment

I recently purchased a small funky rubber USB flash drive from Integral with a view to making it a platform for storing portable applications, i.e., applications that can be executed directly from the drive without installing anything on the host machine. This is especially useful for anti-malware and browser or email apps. Here’s a few [...]

Traffic Control for the Open

Date July 19th, 2007 Comment No Comments

I live in Arbroath. I work in Dundee. Therefore I have to travel along the A92 everyday to get to work. Now the A92 was upgraded a couple of years ago to be a dual carriageway, possibly in time for and because of The Open in Carnoustie, I’m not sure. Don’t get me wrong; I was expecting [...]
