I believe this is better for the long term. I was thinking of decommissioning the server anyway, as the last service it provides is media server that works with my XBOX360. For this purpose, I am now looking at the LaCie Network Space MAX 4Tb.

Why do I have to be signed in to XBox Live to use a media codec?

I was trying to watch a programme last night with was encoded using the ISO-MPEG4 compatible XviD codec, but I was having trouble signing in, so it wouldn’t let me.

Why can’t they add it to a dashboard update and have it available all the time?

Grrr.

The changes are listed below:

• Upgraded PHP to 5.3.0, which provided a few challenges, as it doesn’t support ISAPI except through the FastCGI extension
• Upgraded MySQL to 5.1.37 Community Edition, and changed the back-end administration application to dbForge Studio Express.
• Transferred email for my domain out to Google Apps mail, so no more mail rejections due to the mail server being hosted on a server in a public IP address range.

One of the most anticipated games of the year has to be GTA IV, and will be a huge hit once it is released. The game has been written about to death now and we all assume we know all there is to know about the game however; there is one little gem that we did not know and that is Ricky Gervais is to make a cameo in the game.

The comedian will play himself in the game as he is a stand up act performing in the comedy club in Liberty City. Going into this comedy club might just be a welcome break while you hang out and have a rest, and you will also be able to watch Gervais as he performs some new material that he has written especially for Grand Theft Auto 4.

I’ve got a working XBox 360 and it’s great!
I’ve just finished a marathon sess on Call of Duty 2.

I was a bit worried though, as the XBox, which was a new one complete with protective wrapping on the IR receiver panel, gave the original E67 “there’s something wrong with the hard drive” error when I powered it up for the first time. So I removed the HD and rebooted. Booted ok without the HD, and got to the point in the setup where it says “If you have a memory device, power down, attach it and power up again”. So it did that, and i worked fine from there on in.

They must have just given up on trying to fob me off with broken refurbed units. Third time lucky.

Therefore, my advice would be – be persistent with the support bods and you’ll eventually achieve deep joy.
